Day by Day Cruise Itinerary

  • Vienna

    Arrival to Vienna airport and transferring guests to the port and the ship.

    Dear guests we welcome you on board!

    Welcome drinks will be awaiting you on board and presentation of the captain and his crew.

    Dinner will be served on board.

    After dinner guests will have the possibility to visit some popular night life sites.

  • Vienna

    Breakfast on board. After the breakfast, you will proceed with half day city sightseeing tour of Vienna, which gives you an overall impression of the most important historical sights.

    We are starting with Hundertwasserhaus, including a short stop of approximately 20 minutes. Continuing to Belvedere Palace, where guests will go for a walking tour around the Palace. Then heading back with a bus, to the city centre and around the Vienna Ringstrasse, where you will have the opportunity to see the famous buildings, such as: the State Opera, the Parliament building, Burgtheatre, Votiv-Church and other.

    Continuing into the old centre of Vienna, to the St. Stephan’s Square, where we get out of the busses and get an explaining about the St. Stephan’s Cathedral from the outside. There the guests will have few minutes of free time, so you could go inside the Cathedral individually.

    After the brief Cathedral visit, we are proceeding with a walk back to the bus, through the pedestrian zone, from St. Stephan’s Square, along Graben and Kohlmarkt to Michaeler Square, to the entrance of the Hofburg (Imperial Palace). From this point, we will pass by the Spanish Riding School to Albertina Square, where we will see the State Opera and the famous Hotel Sacher.

    Lunch will be served on board, five o’clock tea and dinner as well.

    Optional:  Schönbrunn Castle (afternoon)

    After lunch, you can visit Schönbrunn Castle, which is the Castle of the great empress Maria Theresa. The tour includes a stroll in the gardens, and visit of the imperial rooms of the former summer residence owned by Habsburg Family, the Schönbrunn Palace.

    Optional:  Classical Vienna Concert (evening)

    30 years ago the musician and conductor Gert Hofbauer, founded the “Wiener Hofburg-Orchester” which plays compositions by Johann Strauss and W.A. Mozart. Performing will be done, by an orchestra of 40 professional musicians and international soloists of the Vienna State Opera. This is unique possibility to see the representation rooms of the Imperial palace (Fofburg) and to attend a concert of the Wiener Hofburg-Orchester. The orchestra is pleased to offer its guests an unforgettable Viennese evening, with the famous and beloved compositions by the “King of Waltz” Johann Strauss son, as well as arias of operas by W.A. Mozart, in the wonderful atmosphere of Vienna’s Imperial Palace (Hofburg).

  • Bratislava

    After breakfast on board, in the morning guests will visit the Slovakian capital, Bratislava.

    Enjoying a two-hour panoramic tour by Old-timer XL (Bratislava’s unique touristic city train), which takes you through the nicest area within the Old Town borders, directly to the courtyard of the medieval Castle, with a beautiful view of the entire city and its surroundings, into Petrzalka and further into Austria.

    The sightseeing in the exclusively pedestrian zone, will include the most important attractions: Michael’s Gate and Tower, St. Martin’s Cathedral, the Main Square with the Old Town Hall, the Slovak National Theatre and many other attractive sites.

    After the tour, you will have free time for shopping and strolling. Lunch will be served on board. We continue sailing towards the Budapest. Five clock tea will be served on board. After lunch, you will enjoy wine tasting of some of the best ship’s wines, in the bar with musical programme along.

    Late afternoon, the ship will enter in lock Gabcikovo, where guests will have opportunity to see the biggest lock in upper part of Danube, that was built from 1997 to 1989. It consists two main structures: a hydropower plant and two lock chambers.

    Dinner will be served on board.

  • Budapest

    Arrival to Budapest is planned in the morning hours.

    After the breakfast you will go for 3 hours city sightseeing tour of Budapest.

    We are visiting the most popular sights: The Parliament Building, St. Stefan Church, the Opera, the Square of Heroes, (the Millennium monument) and the town park with the Vajdahunyad Castle and many more. There will be stops at the Square of Heroes, the Fisherman’s Bastion and Gellert Hill.

    Lunch on board will be served and afterwards guests will have free time.

    Five o’clock tea and dinner will be also served on board.

    Optional:  “Hungarian State Folk Ensemble”

    The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is regarded as one of the best in Hungary. It was established in 1951. During more than five decades of its existence, the Ensemble has achieved its aim by revitalizing the culture of the Hungarian people. Their rich and colourful repertoire, entitled the Ensemble to be regarded as one of the top touring groups in the world.

    The extraordinary folk music that inspired Liszt, Bartók and Kodály is put on stage by both the Folk Orchestra and the world-famous Gipsy Orchestra. The 5 members of the Folk Orchestra play authentic, traditional instruments and perform Hungarian folk music at its highest artistic level. The famous Gipsy Orchestra plays both dance accompaniments and performs alone. Their rich repertoire includes folk music which inspired Hungarian and international classical composers such as Liszt, Brahms, Kodály and Bartók. Aside from its performances around the country and abroad, the Ensemble gives approximately 90 to 100 annually performances in its Corvin tér theatre.

    After performance, we proceed with night sightseeing tour of the beautiful op-lighted Budapest.

  • Budapest

    After breakfast, guests will have free time to explore Budapest on their own, or you can participate in optional programme “Szentandre”.

    Optional:  Szentendre (morning)

    After breakfast you can departure to Szentendre, a small picturesque village from 17th century, just 25km away from Budapest.

    The visit includes the most popular sites, Main Square with the memorial cross, the first teaching school in Hungary, Transfiguration Church and the Church of the hill…

    Afterwards there will be a free time for strolling around and shopping, or simply enjoy one of the local cafes. One glass of famous Hungarian wine Tokaj in local restaurant, is included.

    Around 1 p.m. we are returning to the ship for lunch and afternoon free for shopping / strolling.
    Five o’clock tea and dinner will be served on board.

    Optional excursion: Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum

    The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is part of an approximately 10-km stretch of interconnected caves and cellars beneath Buda Castle Hill. Hospital museum is today one of the most unique and fascinating attractions of Budapest.It was built as a secret military hospital and bunker – nowadays it’s the biggest Hungarian waxwork exhibition with more than 40 figures, and a lot of original machinery and furniture that are still in working conditions.

  • Mohacs, visiting Pecs

    Early in the morning, following the Hungarian lowlands, the ship will approach the Hungarian port of Mohacs.

    After breakfast on board we will take 40 minutes bus transfer to the old town of Pecs (with population of 160.000 citizens), a European Cultural capital from 2010, which is well known for its numerous attractive galleries, museums and historical remains. The tour will start with visit of the main Cathedral built in 11th century, as a symbol of Pecs. You will get to hear a short organ concert there, and see the cathedral treasury.

    The sightseeing of Pecs offers most fascinating sites of the main Szecheny Square and Kaptalan Street, with its beautiful restored medieval houses, Town hall and Palace of Lorant.

    After the sightseeing, enjoy your free time in the main pedestrian zone on Ferencesek Street with possibility of visiting a numerous small interesting shops and cafes.

    Lunch, five o’clock tea and dinner are served on board.

  • Vukovar  / Novi Sad 

    Early in the morning ship is arriving to Vukovar, the largest river port in Croatia.

    There you will proceed to a walking tour, during which you will see the Franciscan Monastery (it’s interior), then stroll along the pedestrian zone full of shops, souvenir places and restaurants.

    Lunch will be served on board and we continue to sail.

    Early in the afternoon we are arriving to Novi Sad, the third biggest city in Serbia. It’s population is more than 350.000 citizens. Novi Sad is the biggest cultural, historical and university centre of Serbia’s northern region called Vojvodina. It is very nice historical place, full of life and beautiful parks, restaurants, bars and boutiques…

    There you will take a walking sightseeing tour, with a local guide.

    Optional: Krushedol – Sremski Karlovci  (afernoon)

    Departure to Krushedol Monastery on the mountain Fruska Gora, famous for its fresco paintings from the 15th century. The monastery is also a burial place for well known rulers from the Serbian history, such as king Milan Obrenovic and Duchess Ljubica.

    On the way back to Novi Sad we will stop in small town Sremski Karlovci, centre of vine production of Fruska Gora region. Visit private producer of wine family Zivanovic, who are well known with producing “Bermet” wine, which was serving already on the Courts of Habsburg Monarchy and Russian Tsars. Our hosts in the surrounding of large garden will serve several sorts of “Bermet” wine, and domestic honey, also produced from the same family. Visit large wine-cellars and also local Museum of honey.

    Returning to Novi Sad, passing the Petrovaradin Fortress, the “Gibraltar on Danube”. Today Petrovaradin Fortress is an integral part of the urban entirety of Novi Sad. Petrovaradin  fortress was built in XVIII century  and  extends across 112 hectares, has four floors in the ground, more than 16 km of tunnels, around 12 000 loopholes and 13 gates.

    At dinner time, we continue sailing to Belgrade.

  • Belgrade

    On this day we are entering Serbia and arriving to its capital Belgrade, early in the morning.

    Before separation of Yugoslavia, Belgrade was the capital and the country’s cultural, educational and political centre. Population of the city is approximately 2 million and rising.

    After breakfast you will go for 2 hours city sightseeing tour, including a panoramic bus ride along the old part of Belgrade. During the tour, you will see the famous Kalemegdan Fortress and Park, then passing by the Orthodox Cathedral, Princess Ljubica’s Manor and continuing by the Town hall, The State Assembly, St. Mark’s Church, and many more…

    After the city tour, there is a 1 hour of free time, in the centre of the city. Refreshments in cosy, city centre hotel “Majestic” are included.

    Approximately at 1 p.m. we are departing from the centre of Belgrade, to a small village in the Vojvodina region, in which surrounding guests will have a lunch in a private household (farm). The lunch will be served in the garden, with local culinary specialities, season fruit, including sljivovica (traditional plum brandy) and domestic wine, ad libitum and performance from local musicians.

    Returning to the ship is planned at 5 p.m. in Belgrade. Dinner is served on board.

    Around 21 p.m. Serbian professional ensemble from Belgrade, will perform traditional folk dance on board the ship, in the bar. In between the dances, a special fashion show – promotion will be held, of  “Sirogojno” – a Serbian specialists for hand made sweaters, crafted from original wool, with typical landscape motives design.

  • Sailing – Iron Gate

    This is a more than 100 km long canon (gorge), which was an obstacle to navigation, because of its pointed rocks and cliffs, surrounded with very wild, untouched nature. It’s dangers where overcame in 1972, when the Iron Gates Hydroelectric and Navigation System where built. The Romanian/Yugoslav builders, carried out this gigantic construction.

    The Danube was dammed in, the concrete dam raised the level of the water by 30 meters. At the two ends, there are two locks and two hydroelectric stations, among the largest in Europe (their average annual output is 10 billion kWh).

    AT some points of Iron Gate, Danube is more than 80 meters deep!

    You will have a chance to listen a lecture about Balkan, enjoying on a sunny deck, in the surrounding of Iron Gate’s natural beauty. Before the lunch ship will pass a big lock of “Djerdap” hydropower plant.

    Five clock tea and dinner will be served on board.

  • Vidin

    In the morning we are arriving in Vidin, Bulgaria.

    There we will proceed with program, by walking and sightseeing of Vidin, with a local guide.

    Vidin is one of the most important Bulgarian shipping-yards, with total of 57.000 citizens. After visiting the Fortress of Baba Vida, which represents the biggest historical site in Vidin and the best preserved medieval fortress in the country, you will have some “free time” in Vidin town centre.

    After the regular program in Vidin (walking tour), we will continue with our optional program:

    Optional excursion: Excursion to Belogradchik (approximate time of excursion is 3 hours)

    The spectacular natural phenomena in the Belogradchik and its region are the Belogradchik Rocks. This rocky fairy tale is spread from west to the east, from Mount Vedernik to Belotintsi village. This region is 30 km long and 3 km wide. The most attractive rocks are around the town. They look alike and are named after their physical appearance: The Madonna, The Monks, The Rider, The Dervish, The Bear, Adam and Eve, The Castle, The Little Shepherd, The Mushrooms, The Lion…

    The Belogradchik fortress complex is also situated in this region. It is one of the most significant historical monuments in Bulgaria, more than 2.000 years old!

    After visiting of Belogradchik rocks and ruins of fortress with photo stop, guests will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs in local shops, located close to the main entrance.

    After lunch we continue sailing to Turnu Magurele.
    Five o’clock tea will be served on board.

    On this evening the Captain’s Gala Dinner will be held in our guests’ honour.

  • Turnu Magurele (Bucharest)

    After the breakfast, disembarkation in Turnu Magurele, which is approximately 2 hour of drive to Bucharest.

    After arrival, panorama city sightseeing tour of Bucharest is planned (the tour lasts approximately 3 hours).

    The tour is including all major sites such as, the Revolution Square, the University Square, the National Theatre, the Romanian Athenaeum and a visit to President Ceausescu’s “People’s House” (no entrance), the second largest building in the World. Only the construction costs of this building amounted to 10 billions USD.

    After the tour, guests will be transferred to the airport. We are wishing you a safe trip!
